Renowned poet, novelist, playwright, creative writing teacher and author of the text book Writing Fiction: A Guide to Narrative CraftJanet Burroway's 2014 book is called Losing Tim: A Memoir about her soldier son who committed suicide. In this 2003 interview she talks about writing non-fiction and her elegiac book, Embalming Mom: Essays in Life. Burroway discusses this form and her attempt to capture in writing a mother who eluded her in life. She also details her interesting connection with Sylvia Plath.
