In 2008, Missouri’s governor appointed Walter Bargen as the state’s first poet laureate. In this interview before an audience at the Kansas City Public Library, Bargen talks about the development of his poetry in his dozen books, from the early surreal imagery to the more narrative style of his award-winning collection, The Feast: Prose Poem Sequences.
